In the heart of Riyadh, where desperation and opportunity converge, Night Courier unveils the gripping narrative of Fahad Algadaani. As a mentally fragile man, Fahad races against time to save his ailing father amidst the crushing weight of financial burden and societal indifference. Forced into the role of a humble delivery “Mandoob” (Night Courier) to make ends meet, Fahad’s life takes a startling turn when a chance encounter reveals the city’s dark underbelly – a world teeming with illegal dealings and illicit activities.

In Arabic, “Mandoob” holds a dual meaning, signifying both a delivery person and someone mourned due to loss or misfortune. Through Fahad’s lens, the film peels back the layers of Riyadh, exposing hidden labyrinths, intersections, and social realities often overlooked in the wealthy surface of the capital of Saudi Arabia. Seamlessly blending thriller and comedy genres, Night Courier authentically portrays Fahad’s psychological turmoil, underscored by meticulously crafted mise-en-scene.

Ali Kalthami is a Saudi director, producer, and content writer. In 2010 and 2016, he shot two shorts, Night Courier is his first feature film which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival. The film has drawn more than 600,000 spectators in Saudi Arabia and broke the box office record as an indie thriller.
